Since its May launch, ubiCabs has seen a steady increase in the number of taxi companies joining the network. Pleasingly, the fastest growing group on the network is the cab companies who approach ubiCabs directly. It makes a nice change from the early days of BETA testing, when we pounded the pavements of London looking for new partners.
To keep ubiCabbers informed, and to provide something of a welcoming fanfare for our new partners, we’ve decided to cast the blog’s eye over some of them from time to time. This week, we’re proud to welcome S Express Cars to the ubiCabs taxi company network.
S Express are a thoroughly professional minicab outfit based in Hendon, with further bases in Finchley Road and Edgware. Their North West London minicab fleet is growing quickly, and ubiCabbers seeking minicabs in the NW post codes may be seeing them in their booking confirmation screens soon.
In addition to those minicab fleet staples, the Vauxhall Zafira and Ford Galaxy, S Express also brings an executive touch to the party in the shape of several E-Class Mercedes. The nice thing about ubiCabs is that for the same price, you might get one of those turning up, and that’ll make you feel good as you embark on a most stylish London minicab journey.
Mysteriously, no information is available to explain the origins of the S in S Express’s name. Some (childish) readers (and ubiCabs staff) will have noticed that a snigger-worthy cab company name can be created by running the parts of the name together. That though, is surely not the real reason behind the naming of this excellent taxi company. Shame on you all.
Given that it’s unexplained, we’re inviting theories from ubiCabs users. What does that S stand for? Where did it come from? Was the first owner named Simon perhaps? Or did the adjective ‘Stunning’ seem the best fit for the nascent organisation? Maybe S was the letter of the day on Sesame Street on the date of incorporation? Who knows? Someone, probably, but let’s speculate in the comments section or on social media. The best submissions will be put to S Express for consideration, and an explanation will be chosen.
