The Hammersmith Flyover will remain closed for at least another week while Transport for London completes a thorough investigation of the reported structural damage.
The Flyover, which closed on 23 December after defects due to salty water rusting the cables were found, is a main thoroughfare to Heathrow Airport from Central London and sees over 90,000 vehicles a day.
Though the exact re-open date is unknown, Mayor Boris Johnson has said that the A4 route will be fully operational by the start of the Olympics on 27 July, if not much sooner.
BBC London Travel’s Billy Reeves stated: “If you commute by car through London you will need to add another hour to your journey for the foreseeable future.” Wise words to live by if your travel plans will bringing you anywhere near Heathrow or West London this month.
